Annual Recommitment Service

September 27, 2014
Washington Conference Women's Missionary Society Annual Recommitment Service
Missionaries Empowering and Equipping a New Generation for Service
Joel 2:28 & Matthew 19:20-21
Nearly 300 missionaries, associates, and pastors participated in the Washington Conference Branch Women's Missionary Society Annual Recommitment Service held at Reid Temple AMEC, Rev. Dr. Lee P. Washington, Pastor and Sister Renee Brooks, Host WMS President.  The service is held each year to usher in the spirit of mission service  and sacrifice in a new Conference Year.  Our focus this year is mentoring the young adult missionaries of the WMS organization.  We were blessed to have our own Supervisor Dr. PAM DeVeaux, many District and Conference Officers and Life Members in attendance.
Rev. Dr. Debyii L. Sababu-Thomas, Preacher, Teacher, Pastor, Coach, Servant Leader, Sister Friend and a Mighty Woman of God, Ward AMEC, took the service to the highest level of praise and worship as she delivered a passionate message from the book of Genesis, "Blessed to be Blessed."  The Hazel A. Dyson Missionary Choir kept the spirit alive with well known hymns of praise.  Rev. Thomas ended the service with a prayer call for guidance and direction to those who were feeling burdened with different circumstances in their lives. A large group of women came forth and circled the front.  Following remarks by Conference President Oveta H. Watkins, senior and younger missionaries made recommitment pledges of love and partnership as God points the roads for them to follow on the missionary journey before them.  We thank God or his presence in the place.

"True praise challenges us to leave old paths of the human heart behind and reach for something beyond ourselves, giving ourselves up to God."
