Baltimore Annual Conference Closing

The closing session of the 198th Baltimore Annual Conference was highlighted by a memorial service followed by retirement recognition of Rev. Kenneth Stewart with his rendition of "His Eye is on the Sparrow." The evening involved the reading of the official resolution and the Ordination and Commissioning Service. Bishop James Davis, Presiding Prelate-9th Episcopal District preached with power to close out our marvelous conference week!

Balimore Annual Conference DMC

Mt. Olive A.M.E.- Worton hosted the Debutante and Masters Commissioning service with presentations by the Allenites, Junior Debs and Masters, and Debs and Masters in Waiting. The  finale was the presentation of the 2013-2014 Baltimore Anual Conference Debutantes and Masters. Bishop DeVeaux and Dr. Pam, Presiding Elder and Mrs. Cordell Hunter, Presiding Elder and Mrs. Ernest Montague and supporting pastors were in attendance and were all proud of our talented young people!

Community Service

Baltimore Annual Conference-WMS Day

Empowerment Temple A.M.E. Church hosted our WMS day. The sermon was delivered by Sister Milred Wright. The annual luncheon featured keynote speaker Sister Jeanette Hitte. The luncheon recognized the male "Unsung Heroes". The evening concluded with the capping and pinning of nearly 100 new missionaries and associate members. Great job Baltimore WMS!!

Baltimore Annual Conference-YPD Day

YPD Day for the Baltimore Annual Conference was hosted by Robinson A.M.E. Church-Grasonville, MD-opening with praise and worship, continuing with music by the Baltimore Conference Choir, Dance Ministry and Drama Ministry.  Also featured were recognition awards given to Presiding Elders Ernest Montague and Cordelll Hunter by Dr. Pam. Delegates and alternates for the 2015 Quadrennial (Indianapolis) were elected during the business session. The day concluded with a spirited sermon by Rev. Sequoia Boone, Youth Pastor-St. John A.M.E. Church in Baltimore.

The closing session was highlighted by an awesome sermon from Bishop T. Larry Kirkland, Presiding Prelate- 5th Episcopal District. Bishop Kirkland also assisted Bishop DeVeaux with the commissioning ceremony. God is so Good!!

Washington Annual Conference-Men's Night

The Annual Men's Night sermon was delivered by Rev. Derek Brown, Senior Pastor of New Hope A.M.E.- Waldorf, MD. The topic of this powerful word was "By Any Means Necessary." The night concluded with the annual recognition of each church's Young Man and Man of the Year awards.

Washington Annual Conference Lay Day

What a busy and blessed day we had celebrating with and honoring our Washington Conference Lay! Rev. Etoria Goggins, Senior Pastor of Mt. Zion A.M.E. in Severn, MD preached a riveting mid-day Lay sermon on the topic-- "Make Mine a Double."
 
The Lay Night Service consisted of poetic expressions by Sister Dyone Mitchell; contemporary gospel's effect on the A.M.E. Church by Brother Bill Ayers; dance ministry by Sister Janiya Drayton; the A.M.E. hymnal by the Reid Temple Youth and Young Adult Choir.
 
The night concluded with the presentation of the annual Lay Bible Bowl winners, serenaded by "The Singing Preachers", and the installation of the new Washington Conference Lay Organization officers. To God be the Glory!!

The Washington Annual Conference held last week was highlighted by great preaching, teaching and fellowship. Our young people were outstanding as they celebrated their annual YPD day and through the beautiful Debutante/Masters Ceremony. Bishop DeVeaux and Dr. Pam are extremely proud of our future leaders!

Washington Annual Conference

Hosted by Reid Temple A.M.E. Church in Glen Dale, MD the Washington Annual Conference convened April 9-11, 2014. The opening session included the pastoral procession, a welcome greeting given in Swahili, French, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese by the Reid Temple Christian Academy. The opening session sermon was preached by Rev. Dr. JoAnn Browning, co-pastor of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Ft. Washington, MD. The topic of this powerful word from the Lord was simply put-"Therefore".

Metropolitan A.M.E. Church welcomed their new pastor, Rev. Dr. William H. Lamar IV, on Sunday April 13, 2014. Congratulations were also extended to their former Pastor Dr. Ronald E. LTI 2014

The 2014 Leadership and Training Institute was held March 28-30 at the Sheraton City Center in Baltimore, MD. Under the leadership of Dr. Sherell Crawford, Connectional YPD Director and the entire Executive Board the conference was well attended and a great success. We are so proud of the marvelous work our young people are doing to grow and glow for Christ!

Washington Annual Conference

This week marked the beginning of the 2014 Washington Annual Conference. The Women's Missionary Society opened their session at Martin's Crosswinds in Greenbelt, MD with a memorial service for deceased members, delegate elections for the the 2015 Quadrennial and a spirit-filled midday service with a powerful message by Rev. Anna Mosby. The day concluded with the traditional Night in White--capping 213 new missionaries and pinning 15 male members. The Lord's name be PRAISED!!

During April, we mark National Minority Health Month by raising awareness about the health disparities that continue to affect racial and ethnic minorities.
 
This year's theme, Prevention is Power: Taking Action for Health Equity emphasizes the critical role of prevention in reducing health disparities. It is a call to action, a charge for all of us to unite towards a common goal of improving the health of our communities.
 
Everyone is America should have the chance to live a healthy life, regardless of who they are and where they live.
