Presiding Elder Goodwin Douglas

On June 14, 2014 we gathered at Martin's Crosswinds to celebrate and honor Presiding Elder Goodwin Douglas as he retired from 55 years in the ministry! The afternoon was highlighted by reflections from family and friends through word/poetry, song and video tributes. We are so grateful to Presiding Elder Douglas and Mrs. Douglas for their faithful service. Well done!!!

 June 16-20, 2014 Bishop DeVeaux and Dr. Pam with four grandchildren in tow led a delegation of 47 persons on a marvelous trip to Trinidad to embark on  Project IMPACT.  The partnership was formed between Bishop DeVeaux (2nd District)  and Bishop John White (16th District) to participate in exchanges of cultural, mission and worship experiences. The group was met at the airport by Bishop White an 16th District leadership and enjoyed e a welcome reception at the home of Presiding Elder Wayne Anthony ad his wife Sandra.

Roslyn Stewart Christian

Roslyn Stewart Christian (Age 63). Suddenly entered into eternal rest on Sunday June 15, 2014. Our beloved "Ros" served as Executive Secretary to Bishop William P. DeVeaux. She was a long time member of Metropolitan A.M.E. Church and former church administrator. She leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Faye and Kaye Christian; a host of other relatives and friends spanning the globe and across the A.M.E. Connection.

 Saturday June 21st from 10m to 11am friends may visit with the family at Metropolitan A.M.E. Church, 1518 M Street, NW Washington, DC 20005.
Funeral Service will be June 21st at 11:00 am.

Western N.C. Annual Conference-Women In Ministry

The Western North Carolina Conference Chapter of Women in Ministry's service featured Rev. Gwendolyn I. Benjamin- Gaston Chapel A.M.E.-Morganton. Rev. Benjamin preached with power from Psalm * on the topic "I Have Glory!"

Western N.C. Annual Conference-Opening

The opening service of the Western North Carolina Annual Conference was highlighted by the preacher of the hour Rev. Dr. Ronald L. Owens-St. Joseph A.M.E.-Durham. The sermon text was taken from II Chronicles 1:7-13 ad I Kings 3:9, 10 with a topic of "Leadership that Pleases God". The preacher reminded us that it is not about us--but it's about God! Let God have HIS own way in our lives because God cannot bless mess.
 

The evening service was governed by the Sons of Allen. The guest preacher was Rev. Robert L. Goode- Springdale A.M.E.- Alamance. His text was taken from II Timothy 4:6,7 using the topic-I Have Faith".  The evening concluded with the traditional recognition of the Men of the Year. This also included the Bishop's Award for Business and Professional Service to Mr. Sylvester Smith, Cary, NC. Congratulations!

Western NC Annual Conference-Night in White

The WMS Annual Convention ended with the traditional missionary capping and pinning of the male associates. The finale was a service in song with a special performance by Stellar and Dove Award Winner gospel recording artist- Pastor Beverly Crawford. What a blessing!

Congratulations Elder Hunter


A well deserved honor!!

Mr. Gerald G. Stansbury, President of the Maryland State Conference, NAACP recently presented the "Faith Base" Award of Service Beyond Measure to Presiding Elder Cordell E. Hunter, Sr. on behalf of the Eastern District, Baltimore Conference, AME Church a their Annual Maryland State Conference. Other members of the Eastern District were also present. We are proud of Elder Hunter!!

The Western North Carolina Annual Conference Women's Missionary Society held their Noonday service--and it was awesome!! The speaker for the hour was none other than our own WMS International President, Dr. Shirley Cason-Reed. She gave an awe inspiring message to the missionaries and male associated to be prepared for "A New Vision for a New Season." AMEN!!

Western NC Conference-DMC

St. James A.M.E.-Winston-Salem, hosted this year's Christian Debutante Masters Dedication Commission Service for the Western North Carolina Conference. Debutante Rayelle Marie Pflueger was honored by the Allenites, Sub-Debs/Sub-Masters. 2010 Debutante Kelsey Jaswan Warren brought forth an inspiring and challenging message for our young people.

Annie L. Raleigh Fellowship Hall

Pastor Clay L. Barrow-Clapp's Chapel A.M.E.-Whitsitt, N.C. invited Bishop DeVeaux  to the dedication service of fellowship hall--named for their oldest living member, Mother Annie L. Raleigh. Mother Raleigh is 92 years young! The guest preacher was Rev. Gregory L. Edmond- St. Paul A.M.E.- Raleigh, N.C. The text was taken fro Psalm 126:3 with a sermon topic-"I Can't Help I, Got to Praise Him." Whatever God has done for you--it's shoutin' time!!!!

Springdale A.M.E. Mortgage Burning

Rev. Robert L. Goode, Sr. Pastor of Springdale A.M.E.-Burlington, NC invited Bishop DeVeaux to be the guest preacher for their mortgage burning service on June 8, 2014. Bishop's text was taken from Psalms 122 with the topic "Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord." Don't be afraid to be joyous, have something to shout about. When you rejoice when entering the house of the Lord, somebody will rejoice with you! AMEN!!

The 100th Anniversary of the Hampton Ministers Conference was attended by A.M.E. ministers from across the connection. The 2nd Episcopal District was well represented. An awesome experience!!!

NC Annual Conference-DMC

The North Carolina Conference Christian Debutante-Masters Dedication Ceremony was hosted by St. Luke A.M.E. Church- Fayetteville. Tributes were given by the Allenites and Sub-Debs and Sub-Masters. Vocal tributes were offered by Master Matthew Foy and Sub-Deb Marissa Foy. The challenge message was delivered by former Debutante Jahara Davis Harmon. Congratulations to all who participated and please continue to let your lights shine for the Lord!

NC Annual Conference-Closing

The highlight of the closing service is always the ordination and commissioning. This year four new deaconesses, two deacons, and two itinerant elders were ordained. Bishop Vashti Murphy Mckenzie, Presiding Prelate of the 10th Episcopal District, served as the ordination preacher. Her sermon text was taken from Titus 2:1-8 on the topic- "Anyhow". Using an elevator analogy Bishop Mckenzie reminded the congregation not  to caught between floors. Don't let the circumstances of your community defeat your ministry. Be good, do good and make good--Anyhow! AMEN!!!

NC Annual Conference-YPD

The North Carolina YPD Chapter presented their Annual Youth Day presided by President Miss Brandie Simmons with the theme-"Strong Faith...Strong Finish". The service featured liturgical dance by the St. Luke Praise Team and the Kingdom Impact Youth Steppers of Mt. Calvary A.M.E.


Rev. Germain Robinson of Murphy Chapel A.M.E. Church-Harrells brought the preached word. His text was taken from 2 Timothy 4:7 with the topic- "Change Your Diet". The preacher emphasized that one must be in shape to run the race for the Lord. What you put in is what you get out in order to have a strong finish! Awesome word. We are so proud of our young people!

NC Annual Conference- Retirement Service

The final day of the conference included a retirement service honoring Rev. Johnny Richards and Rev. Charles Davis. Both men honored their lovely wives for being the glue that held their ministries together. Thank you to Rev. Richards and Rev. Charles for years of dedicated service to our great church. Be blessed in your retirement!

NC Annual Conference-Women in Ministry

The mid-day refreshing service was conducted by the North Carolina Women in Ministry featuring praise and worship and inspiring sermon by Rev. Sandra David (Sandhill A.M.E. Church) whose text was taken from Acts 9;13-16 from the topic- "That was Then, This is Now." 


The evening Lay Witness Service was a service in song featuring the St. Luke A.M.E.-Fayetteville choir, Brother Abdue Knox, Ms. Denise MBani, and gospel group Malachi.  Service concluded with the installation of the 2014-2015 North Carolina Lay Organization executive officers conducted by Bishop DeVeaux, who serves as the Connectional Lay Organization Commissioner.

NC Annual Conference- WMS

The North Carolina Conference Women's Missionary Society held their Annual Night in White Experience on May 28, 2014 at Sea Trails Resort, Sunset Beach, NC.  Conference branch president, Diane Graham served as the worship leader with Reverend Pamela Faison, pastor of Macedonia-Oak Grove Circuit offering the preached word. Rev. Faison's test was taken from 1 Corinthians 12:12 on the topic-"Where Do I Fit In." She talked about knowing your role and knowing your place.  Be what God called you to be. The capping and pinning was presided over by Episcopal President- D. Faye Conley and Episcopal Supervisor- Dr. PAM. What a blessed time we had in the Lord!
