2016 Virginia AME Day-Richmond, VA

Tuesday, January 19, 2016 was designated as AME Day by the Virginia State General Assembly organized by the 2nd Episcopal District Social Action Commission led by Rev. Dr. Wendell O. Christopher, Director and Reverends Reuben Boyd (Third Street Bethel AME)  and Darryl Wade (Macedonia AME). We had a group of 49 AME's from both churches along with pastors from the VA Annual Conference and representatives from the Washington Annual Conference in support.

The Virginia State General Assembly recognized through proclamation, the birth, history and continued social activism of the AME Church going into its 200th year representing over 2.5 million members, 20 Episcopal Districts in 39 countries.

We thank the Social Action Commission for their diligence in keeping the AME Church in the forefront of community activism both locally and worldwide!

Proclamation read from Governor Terry McAullife's Commissioner and presented to Bishop DeVeaux
