AME Empowerment Center

.On September 19, 2015 Bishop DeVeaux and Dr. Pam traveled to Raleigh, NC for a marvelous occasion!! Due to the tireless efforts of so many in maintaining the AME Men's Shelter in Raleigh, NC beautiful renovations recently completed including new tile flooring, new kitchen, modernized marble shower stalks and a new freezer. The center was renamed--AME Empowerment Center- and dedicated.
The official dedication was preceded by a worship service hosted by St. Paul AME-where Sister Shirley Sheares, Empowerment Center Director, served as the evening's worship leader. We were favored by music provided by the St. Paul AME church choir and a powerful proclaimed word by guest preacher, Rev. Dr. Staccato Powell, Pastor of Grace AME Zion Church. The sermon came from Matthew 25 and the preacher reminded us to know God for yourself and let your works speak for you--that is the bottom line!

Most notable were the tearful and emotional words of celebration given by residents of the Empowerment Center. We can all learn a lesson from them--your condition is not your conclusion!
We encourage everyone to visit the Empowerment Center and we solicit your financial support for the center's ongoing efforts. All donations can be made out of the Washington Conference placing Empowerment Center in the memo section of your check. Please visit www.2ndamec.org for additional information. Thank you!
