American Diabetes Month takes place every November and is a time to come together as a community to Stop Diabetes! American Diabetes Month was established to raise awareness of this ever growing disease.  Here are just a few of the recent statistics on diabetes:
  • Nearly 30 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes. Increasing rates.
  • Another 86 million Americans have prediabetes and are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes.
  • The American Diabetes Association estimates that the total national cost to diagnose diabetes  in the United States is $245 billion.
Individuals  can experience different sign and symptoms of diabetes and sometimes there may be no signs. Some of the signs may include:
> Frequent urination
>Excessive thirst
>Increased hunger
>Weight loss
>Tiredness
>Lack of interest and concentration
>A tingling sensation or numbness in hands or feet
>Blurred vision
>Frequent infections
>Slow-healing wounds
>Vomiting and stomach pain (often mistaken for flu)
